Top 5 upcoming games in May [2/5]

After the first, and clearly the most anticipated release coming in May, we continue in the same fashion with the second. Of course, you won't be disappointed with this one, as May is one hell of a promising month from a gamer's perspective.

2. Max Payne 3

Bullet-time in Brazil! Yeah, another game we expected to be released a couple of years back, since it was first announced for a release in 2009. Interesting to note is that this is the first game in the franchise not to be written by a genius (at least in my opinion) mind of Sam Lake (Who also brought us an amazing story of Alan Wake). Also, it is not being developed by Remedy Entertainment, the company that brought us the first two parts of the game.
But, on the contrary, the major developer for the second sequel of Max Payne is Rockstar Vancouver, a subordinate of Rockstar Games (GTA games, Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, Manhunt, Bully...), and the lead writer is Dan Houser, a guy that wrote all but one GTA game, Red Dead Redemption and Bully. So, the signs are more than optimistic.

So, the story of our major protagonist who lived through hell in the last two parts leads us away from New York city to Sao Paulo, a city in Brazil. Max is a few years older, more grumpy and cynical. Also, important to note - bald and badass! The short plot says that he's double-crossed in the new city and that he's reaching for the truth and the way out of the mess. He becomes something like a henchmen, a bodyguard of a big fish called Rodrigo Branco, a bit of an escapism from the shades of his horrible past, but a street gang kidnaps Branco's wife and Max once again starts to tangle in a web of conspiracy and deadly shadows of Sao Paolo.

This brings back memories.

Bullet time is back! The trademark of the franchise will be improved and now it will be possible to see every bullet make a hole in your foes. It will feature over-the-shoulder zoom aiming and cover mechanics, but it will be just an adornment to a highly paced classic run-and-gun shooting. Shooting and killing enemies will look much more realistic than in any other Rockstar game so far, available through advanced utilization of Euphoria physics engine. Also, Max will now be able to stay on the ground after a dive, and be able to shoot 360 degrees.

Bruce Willis making a cameo appearance? No, it's just Max with a new haircut.

No one would like to be in Max's shoes, but everyone would like to help him ravage and kill all who stands in his way of finding the truth and getting the revenge. That counts for me too, and I bet for all of you who read this!

Aim and cover. Not the kind of insane Max  we got used to.

The game is scheduled release is 15th May (NA) and 18th May (EU) for PS3/Xbox 360, and May 29th (NA) and June 1st (EU) for Microsoft Windows.
